Eternally Yours

By Carmen Willcox

I am tired of dying

Of wrestling for freedom

From Sphinx

And from demon

Exhausting my lives

With sonorous pomp

And blessed disguise.

I am tired of tasting

How too many kisses

Have paled

And have lost

How too many glimspses

Fed to our gods

Have flooded my cries

With candle-lit claws

And hollow applause.

How all life comes to Nothing

In Life’s many roles

And even the Eucharist

Does not lend repose

I am tired of dying

So many times

Tired of receiving

Too many wines

Some Sacramental

Others tantalize.

So tired of entrusting, and

Too tired to deny,

I am so tired of Dying

Eternally Yours.
